We have entered the age of high technology a long time ago and every year we can see the emergence of such things as neural networks, artificial intelligence and augmented reality. But recently something happened that could change people’s already established ideas about a personal assistant and voice search. On October 10, Yandex launched the voice assistant Alice, everyone will immediately rush to test it and we are no exception, but we will do this with a specific purpose.
We started with ordinary and simple questions and immediately noticed the difference with the same Siri from Apple (the latter is partially built into the Google search application, just like Alice)
Both answers suited us, but Alice had one more advantage, we’ll talk about it later. By the way, one of Alice’s answers to the same question was: “I recently looked at photos of cats on Yandex. There is nothing better than cats. I hope you are doing well too." Agree, it’s nice to listen to such answers, they are more humane. Then they asked the assistants to build a route to the Kremlin and this is what came out of it
But here we noticed a small peculiarity: if you remove the word “me” from the request, then Siri easily copes with the task and transfers it to the maps application (standard :( ). Next, it was decided to ask Siri and Alice if they knew who Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump were?
This is where it gets really interesting. Siri provided answers to both questions, but did not read either of them out loud. In turn, Alice not only read the text from the card, but also said words that simply are not in the text, for example, she says: “Soviet Russian political figure,” and not what is written. But she doesn’t know Donald Trump at all, neither the second time nor the third. For this he goes into search. Above we talked about one advantage, it lies in excellent voice synthesis. Alice speaks like a real person, you want to listen to her and continue the dialogue. If she reads a paragraph, then you get the feeling that she read it in advance, placed all the emphasis and began to repeat it out loud. If we ask our assistants to tell us about the weather for the next week, Siri will show us a weather card, and Alice will not only show but also begin to tell us the weather (and will even use the words “tomorrow” and “the day after tomorrow”)
Agree that the Yandex assistant is of great interest, since it is the brainchild of a Russian company, a Russian search engine, like Google in America, and you simply cannot miss the opportunity to use it to the fullest, which is what we tried to do, but we ran into one problem. Despite such extensive knowledge, Alice cannot tell anything about the companies. We tested her knowledge about the Eventum Premo agency and came to two, not very good, conclusions. Alice doesn't know anything about the company! Neither about McDonald's, nor about Delimobil, he can't tell anything about them and immediately runs to the search, where, of course, everything is located.
And from here a logical question arose: what languages does she know?
Alisa only knows Russian, but we hope that this is temporary. Since the assistant is constantly learning and improving, soon when asked “what do you know about Eventum Premo” we will be able to hear the answer “The best agency in the field of Event, PR and Digital services” and more.
