Continuations of stories from the book “The Art of Events”: www.eventist.ru
Once Master Shu made a good joke. It was a joke about the work of the Eventists, quite successful and subtle. Master Shu liked this Shu-tka so much that he wrote it down. He liked the joke even more and then Master Shu refined the wording a little more, added an illustration and posted it on the corporate Facebook. The whole next day, Master Shu walked around very pleased with himself - the post on Facebook collected a lot of likes and reposts. And since Master Shu was very vain, he was very happy.
However, Master Boo was not very happy.
- Tell me, dear Shu, how many Clients did this joke bring us? - Well, I don’t know yet...
- I think that if you draw a very large circle in the air and imagine that this is a number, this will be the exact number of new Clients. Zero.
- We don’t know exactly what will captivate the Client!
- But we know for sure that you can do more, Master Shu! No need to waste money on Facebook posts. You need to set the bar higher for yourself! Write a book, Shu. You can do it! And now you can put this joke in the book. It will be appropriate there.
Master Shu thought about it. After all, it was very similar to Master Boo and very similar to Pre-mo. When the young agency reached its first turnover of 1 million rubles, the then small team rejoiced wildly. But Master Boo brought a stool and wrote high on the wall - “$1 million” and silently pointed to them. Everyone realized that he had raised the bar. When a couple of years later the agency carried out its first international project with an even larger budget, Master Shu found an American magazine with a rating of the best event agencies in the world and showed his colleagues - “we can be here!”, he said. Everyone was so used to this that when a larger project was completed, the ENTIRE team thought, “Well, next year we’ll do it even better.”
And Master Shu began to write a book. It's not that easy to write a book that someone can read! Master Shu tried hard and recalled chilling stories from the night editing, cunning moves to approve the design, brilliant management decisions of past years. He woke up in the middle of the night to write down thoughts that might be lost by morning, and checked old notebooks. The stories became more and more until there were... many. Inspired by what happened, Master Shu printed them out on neat pieces of paper and brought them to Master Bu to show off. He looked at them and smiled his famous smile - he also had a thick stack of sheets with wonderful stories in his hands. With a bow, Master Bu and Master Shu exchanged their packets and retired to read. Shu really liked Master Bu's stories. There was a lot of practicality and inner poetry in them. The comparisons were precise and bold, and the ideas were original. When Shu saw Master Bu, he couldn't help himself:
- I really liked your stories, Master Boo. You need to write more!
- I'll try. But your stories seemed somehow secondary to me. Some platitudes. Let's do it really cool this time.
Master Shu frowned and retired to the summer park to work on his manuscript. The work progressed, rolling up his sleeves every day, Shu added stories and ideas. However, Boo repeatedly asked them to improve them - the stories themselves, comparisons or humor. “It’s not clear,” he said. "It's a shame." “It’s kind of flat...” And Shu remade the stories again and again.
Finally the work was completed. The cover and illustrations needed to be approved. Make a website for a promotional book. When Master Shu looked at the design and liked everything, Master Bu appeared from behind and said, “We can definitely do better!” And, surprisingly, he was right. Indeed, the design became more stylish, the illustrations more interesting.
Finally the day came when the book was printed and it could finally be presented to the public. The entire agency team was preparing for an office party on Friday to celebrate the occasion. But Master Boo said, “This is somehow petty. Let's do itreal presentationhow we do it for our Clients. Let's invite our friends, colleagues, musicians. Let’s make a good presentation ourselves!” And everyone agreed.
A few days later, after thinking about the program of the event, Master Shu said to Bu:
“We won’t be able to just walk there and smile.” We need to prepare a fiery speech!
- Great. What did you want to talk about?
- I think we need to inspire people! You can tell the story of how we wrote this book. After all, the ability to set a high bar for yourself is something like a habit! Look, many people think that they will never be able to run a marathon. If you have determination, then you first run 3-5 km on the weekend and think that this is ALREADY cool. But it’s important not to stop - you need to set yourself a new goal to run 10, then in a week 15, 21 km. And then - bam! - and you are a marathon runner! And so it is in everything - you make good projects, but you don’t stop and make it more and more difficult, and then the coolest projects don’t scare you. So you can cross a continent by car, climb to the top of a mountain or dive deep into the ocean! You can write a book in the same way if you believe that it is important and set yourself a difficult task. For example - yes, at least write a whole book, instead of a post inFacebook!
Shu was very inspired; it seemed to him that there simply could not be a better idea.
- It’s possible, of course. Inspiring people is generally not a bad thing, dear Shu. But I think that at such a presentation it would be possible to talk about the very essence of the event business. That important story that was not included in the book, but that explains everything...
- Do you want to tell the true story about our biggest project?
- I wish I could tell the story better. I would like to tell you about the sand mandala...
